Clock Tower Trail in downtown Toronto
Al Rezoski and Kathryn Holden
Jane Jacobs promoted short City blocks, midblock connections, linear parks and animated streetscapes. The Clock Tower Trail is a proposed 3 km long trail east and west of Yonge Street between Charles Street and Gerrard Street. In the centre is the historic Fire Hall Number 3 and clock tower which has been renovated into the base of a condo tower. The trail will connect ten existing parks, three park expansions, three planned parks, five Privately Owned Public Spaces and 18 public art installations. This is an area of the City with a lot of growth -17 under construction or proposed towers representing more that 550 floors of residential development.
Learn about work by the City of Toronto and four neighbourhood associations for wayfinding, Indigenous place keeping, LGBTQ2S+ history and placemaking, accessibility and safety improvements, streetscape improvements, Learning Lanes, Living City Blocks and commemoration efforts for film maker Norman Jewison.
